My Manifesto

My Manifesto

I’ve decided to enter municipal politics and run for council in the municipality of North Grenville. Regarding my decision to enter into municipal politics, there have been several guiding motivations for me;

1 – I want to help people and make a difference in my community. I have lived in the municipality of North Grenville for just over a year and a half and I love it! I grew up in a small town, but had lived in Ottawa for the previous 17 years. I’m much more comfortable in a small town. I like to be able to get to know my neighbours, talk to people, learn people’s names and hear their stories. The people that I’ve already gotten to know have been very kind and generous to me, so if there’s some way that I can help, I will do it. This is one of the best ways that I can think of, to do that.

2 – I’ve had an interest in politics for years, but don’t like how party politics can divide us. Public service should be about bringing people together to work for the benefit of everyone. As a municipal politician, I will work for all of the citizens of North Grenville. Everyone has something or some way they can contribute. I want to work with anyone who wants to contribute, irregardless of how they vote.

3 – You might say that municipal politics are in my blood. My grandfather and grandmother on my mother’s side of the family were both municipal councillors in different terms. My grandfather campaigned on having safe roads and infrastructure because he was a superintendent of roads before retiring and getting involved in council. My grandmother campaigned on working hard and getting rid of those on the council who don’t work hard. So I would like to think that I am honouring them by doing this and getting more involved in my community.

4 – My son. He is actually #1 on this and all other lists. He makes me want to become a better person, father and man.
